Retailers are gearing up for Black Friday in two weeks, but that hasn’t stopped them from releasing some early deals. Best Buy has done just that by slashing the price of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus.
The retailer hasn’t reduced the price of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the best deal you’ll find on it is on Amazon. However, Best Buy has some good deals on the recently released S24 Plus and S24 FE.
As it stands, the Galaxy S24 FE 128GB is $75 off, bringing the price down to $574.99. While the Galaxy S24 Plus 256GB is $100 off, bringing the price down to $899.99. The 512GB variant of the Galaxy S24 Plus is sold out.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S24 FE listing has a note saying that the “door deal” is “coming soon” suggesting that bigger discounts are on the horizon. This isn’t a surprise given that Samsung has already included the S24 FE in several deals since it launched in October.
Is this Best Buy deal worth it?
If you’re looking to buy either phone today, then yes, both deals are worth it. Samsung isn’t offering an outright cash-back offer on either phone at the moment (though it has increased trade-in prices on all its flagship smartphones). Similarly, Amazon is charging more for both handsets.
Best Buy’s Galaxy S24 FE price is particularly impressive, but as the retailer points out, the price may change when Black Friday officially begins. If you want a better phone for a similar price, buying from Samsung on Black Friday could mean a combination of trade-in prices and an outright discount bringing the base Galaxy S24 down to the current FE price at Best Buy.
Samsung’s trade-in prices are the ultimate deal breaker and should be considered when comparing deals. For example, Best Buy will pay $110 for your Galaxy S21 Plus when you buy the Galaxy S24 Plus. Samsung will part with $300 for the same device now. That means you’ll pay $699 at Samsung versus $789.9 at Best Buy.
If you don’t have a device to trade in and are looking to buy one today, then Best Buy’s deal is the deal for you. But I doubt we’ll see better prices, or attractive bundle deals, for both the S24 FE and the S24 on Black Friday.
Update on November 9: Best Buy is rolling out more early Black Friday deals on Google, Apple and Samsung phones. Surprisingly, last year’s flagship handsets are getting the biggest discounts, while Apple’s pricing remains fairly stable.
For example, the base Google Pixel 8 is $250, bringing the price down to $449. A very good deal for a device that is functionally very similar to the Pixel 9. It also has a few years of software support left. While Apple’s iPhone 14 Plus has received a small discount of $50, bringing the price down to $679.99.
Elsewhere, the Pixel 8a is $100 off and the Motorola Razr 2023 is $350 cheaper. Best Buy also has one of the most impressive Pixel 9 introductory deals right now, knocking $150 off the base Pixel 9 and $350 off the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. I don’t know how long these deals will last, but don’t rush to buy either because Google’s 2024 smartphones will be discounted several times over the next couple of weeks at a small number of different retailers.
