ForbesToday’s NYT ‘Connections’ tips and answers for Friday, November 8

Hey, everyone. Welcome to perhaps the most needed weekend in recent memory. Whatever you plan to achieve, I hope you make the most of it.

of today NYT Connections suggestions and answers for Saturday, November 9, are coming soon.

How to play the links

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play in NYT the Games website or app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. Groups can be things like clickable items, names for research study participants, or words preceded by a body part.

There is only one solution to each puzzle and you will have to be careful when it comes to words that can fit into more than one category. You can mix the words to help you see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, the blue and green fall in between, and the purple group is usually the hardest. The purple group often includes puns.

Choose four words that you think go together and press submit. If you make a guess and are incorrect, you will lose a life. If you’re close to making a correct set, you may see a message telling you that you’re just one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to switch.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some tips and, if you’re really struggling, today Connections answers. How about me Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share scores with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have one NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can use Connections the archive. This includes any previous games of Connectionsso you can go back and play any of the ones you missed.

Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find my suggestions for each network via Google if you need them! Just click here and add the game date you need data on or search query answers for.

This is your last warning!

of today Connections the answers are…

  • Yellow Group – Distorted (CROPPED, JUDGMENTAL, WRONG, DREAMED)
  • Green group – smallest amount (LICK, OUNCE, SHRED, TRACE)
  • Blue group – algebra terms (EXPONENT, POWER, RADICAL, ROOT)
  • Purple group – words before “room” to mean bathroom (BASH, DUST, REST, THRONE)

A perfect game was practically a (semi) dream today. I barely kept my streak alive, but managed to extend it to 13 wins. Here’s how I got on:

I wasn’t seeing anything right away, so I made a guess that I was pretty sure would be incorrect – SHRED, GNARLY, POWDER, and RADICAL, as in snowboarding terms. Of course, no dice.

After a break, I looked at the grid again and drew a line in my mind between SHRED and LICK. This led me to the greens. Yellows were next, but only after I mistakenly entered RADICAL instead of BENT.

I didn’t know where to go from there. I tried a random guess, but no joy.

In death, however, I had the luckiest escape I think I ever had. I thought BATH, POWDER, and REST made sense together, but I realized they all came after “foot” (footbath, footrest, etc.). Of the remaining words, THRONE made the most sense. I thought this was probably another word for a footstool. But no!

That left the Blues, who I didn’t infer the connection, to a surprise win. Eh!

That’s all there is for today Connections data and response. Be sure to check my blog for tips and the solution for Sunday’s game if you need them.

PS I’ve mentioned in passing that I’ve been thinking about getting a rowing machine and recently decided to pick up a Concept2 RowErg, the option that almost everyone recommends. It’s taking up a lot of space in my relatively small apartment and it’s quite expensive. But with my building’s pool closed until maybe May, I needed a way to work out that I didn’t hate and that my gym didn’t have a rowing machine.

As far as offering a recommendation, I would suggest finding a way to stay active that works for you.

I loved using rowing machines when I was younger, so I’m hoping this will do the job for me as a low impact, full body workout. Even better, I can catch up on shows and movies while slowly getting in shape.
